Foot odorQ: Hi, my dog sadie who is a chocolate lab, has a strong foot odor. my vet has check her feet, but found no fungus. is there a topical foot cream available to maybe rid of the odor. thanks sincerely julie A: I recommend swabbing the foot web and examining the material under high power for an organism called malassezia. it is very common but sometimes hard to find. i treat it with ketoconazole.
RednessQ: I have an 8 month old american bulldog/boxer mix that has slowly developed a redness under the hair on his back (he has white hair and it appears to be a red line on his back. i don't have the money for an immediate vet visit, and he doesn't seem to be terribly bothered by it, but i want to resolve this before it does become a problem. what would the signs be of mange? how would i determine if this was mange or an allergy? thank you for your help here. A: I doubt mange which usually does not appear this way. only way to diagnose it though is skin scrape at vet. more likely an allergy
OrbaxQ: My vet perscribed orbax along with otc pepcid for my dog. i just read that orbax should not be used in conjunction with antacids. should i be concerned? A: The plain pepcid(not the pepcid complete) will not interact with the orbax. the second pepcid product contains an antacid to neutralize any acid in the stomach. the pepcid portion stops the production of acid. it is the alkaline nature of the antacid that reacts with the orbax.
