Over weight dogsQ: I have scottish terrier & schnauzer(mut). they get walked daily. recently put them on hills r/d foot for weight reduction. first week. they both did well switching foods cost is @ $3.00 a day. is there an equal product less costly available through you? both dogs weigh 23 to 25lbs. schnauzer is 12years old. scottie is 8 years old. Which is best for a tiny dog?Q: I just aquired a 3 yr. old yorkie/llhasa mix. (girl). her owner passed away and she was left in my care. she has been very well taken care of as far as vet care and immunizations. i do think she has worms and also needs flea and tick meds. what would you reccommend for my new dog.? she only weighs about 3 lbs. very tiny. thank you, kathie kiter A: I would use monthly interceptor or heartgard which will prevent most intestinal worms and of course heartworms. as for flea/tick meds be very careful with topical products on such a little dog as they can react, you may want to try oral program.

Dog eating habitsQ: My dog has just recently started eating from the cats litter box an i don't know why. she is well fed but we have had no luck stopping this bad habit. is she missing something in her diet? A: Not necessarily. many dogs love to nibble on cat feces for unknown reasons
Housebreaking horrorQ: I recently rescued a small puppy from a dumpster behind a shopping center. being so small i knew he wouldn't be housebroken in anyway. but since i brought him home my older dog who has been house broken for almost 6 months now has started to use the bathroom in the house which she never did before i got the puppy. do you have any suggestions how i could get ther to stop this? in addition do you have any housebreaking tips i could use for the puppy? thanks in advance kassandra canfield A: Use crate or pen to housebreak puppy. older dog may be stressed by new puppy or feel threatened so you could try a low dose of a mild sedative like acepromazine until he is used to the pup
