Orbax
Q: My vet perscribed orbax along with otc pepcid for my dog. i just read that orbax should not be used in conjunction with antacids. should i be concerned?
A: The plain pepcid(not the pepcid complete) will not interact with the orbax. the second pepcid product contains an antacid to neutralize any acid in the stomach. the pepcid portion stops the production of acid. it is the alkaline nature of the antacid that reacts with the orbax.

Redness
Q: I have an 8 month old american bulldog/boxer mix that has slowly developed a redness under the hair on his back (he has white hair and it appears to be a red line on his back. i don't have the money for an immediate vet visit, and he doesn't seem to be terribly bothered by it, but i want to resolve this before it does become a problem. what would the signs be of mange? how would i determine if this was mange or an allergy? thank you for your help here.
A: I doubt mange which usually does not appear this way. only way to diagnose it though is skin scrape at vet. more likely an allergy

Over weight dogs
Q: I have scottish terrier & schnauzer(mut). they get walked daily. recently put them on hills r/d foot for weight reduction. first week. they both did well switching foods cost is @ $3.00 a day. is there an equal product less costly available through you? both dogs weigh 23 to 25lbs. schnauzer is 12years old. scottie is 8 years old.
A: Sorry, currently we do not carry dog food.

Generic med vs. name brand
Q: I have a 3 month old german shepherd and i am getting ready to start her on heart worm meds. i wanted to know which would be the best way to go? the cost is important in some ways, but if its better for my dog, i'll spend a little extra. also what's the best in flea and tick meds? thanks and best regards.
A: You can save money by using iverhart plus which is the generic equivalent for heartgard plus.
Shop for: tick, heartgard, heartgard plus

Dog eating habits
Q: My dog has just recently started eating from the cats litter box an i don't know why. she is well fed but we have had no luck stopping this bad habit. is she missing something in her diet?
A: Not necessarily. many dogs love to nibble on cat feces for unknown reasons

Anal leakage
Q: My cat is 2 and fixed, but lately when he sits down, he leaves, there is a clear wet spot from his butt. and it really smells! he doesn't act sick and eats well. is this normal
A: He might have impacted or infected anal glands. i would have vet evaluate and possibly express the glands if needed.
