Anal leakageQ: My cat is 2 and fixed, but lately when he sits down, he leaves, there is a clear wet spot from his butt. and it really smells! he doesn't act sick and eats well. is this normal A: He might have impacted or infected anal glands. i would have vet evaluate and possibly express the glands if needed.
TapewormsQ: I have owned a 16 month old male sheltie for 6 months. when we first got him he had tapeworms. he has been treated and they come back after 2 months. i have given him fronline on a monthly basis (even though we are in the winter months when fleas have not been a problem). we just noticed that they are back and we must treat him again). this will be the fourth time and i would like to know if you have any suggestions. i spoke with my vets office today and they said some dogs are more into self-grooming than others and once the flea is swallowed the worms come back. i have owned shelties and collies for the past 25 years and have never encountered this problem before. i ordered my last worm treatment from you because i got two doses for the price of one from the vet. i would hate to think that this dog would have to be treated for tapeworms every 2 months for the rest of his life (i'd do it but would want to know about any health complications. please send me your advice.......in no great hurry but would like a response. thanks so much. A: Are we sure that they are tapeworms and not other type of worms. if so, treating him periodically with droncit is fairly safe and can be repeated as needed. is highly unusual unless he is constantly being exposed to fleas. make sure you have treated house for fleas to make sure no eggs around

Newborn puppiesQ: My dog recently had puppies. i use flea prevention of her but her puppies are infested with them. they are 4 weeks old and cry constantly because of the fleas biting them. what can i do to get rid of the fleas? A: Could avon skin so soft as a rinse applied to them by diluting 1.5 ounces in 1 gallon of water and sponging it on to them. is natural, a bit greasy but should work
Over weight dogsQ: I have scottish terrier & schnauzer(mut). they get walked daily. recently put them on hills r/d foot for weight reduction. first week. they both did well switching foods cost is @ $3.00 a day. is there an equal product less costly available through you? both dogs weigh 23 to 25lbs. schnauzer is 12years old. scottie is 8 years old. A: Sorry, currently we do not carry dog food.
Heartgard plusQ: My dog uses the heartgard brown but i noticed you have a heartgard plus what is the difference? A: "brown" refers to the strength of the product. heartgard and heartgard plus have the same ingredient to prevent heartworms but the "plus" adds on protection against intestinal worms, the round & hookworms.|you can get information on these products on our website.

Cushing disease & deramaxxQ: My 15 yr. old lab/pitbull mix has cushings disease. i wanted to try deramaxx for his arthritis. is there anything in the deramaxx that will harm him? A: Not really. just need to make sure you have liver/kidneys monitored periodically by your vet especially if he is on a drug to treat cushings like lysodren. also have to watch more closely for digestive side effects as dogs with cushings are more prone to stomach ulcers to begin with.
